Situation-dependent programming of the audio or video source volumes

With this function, you can adjust the volume to match the conditions. GALA, the speed-dependent volume control, is a function which, as the vehicle speed increases, automatically raises the volume of audio and video sources (TV, CD or radio) which are on, so that the subjective volume remains the same.

In addition, you can set the maximum switch on volume of an audio or video source and the volume for announcements. Announcements include, for example, traffic reports and navigation route guidance. The volume for the hands-free system and the ring tones for the telephone is also set with this function.

You will see three bars in the display for volume control. The position of the bar corresponds to the position of the associated function key, i.e., the top bar regulates the speed-dependent volume (GALA), the middle one the maximum switch on volume and the bottom one the setting for the announcement volume.

So that you can recognise immediately which volume you are are changing, the respective bar and its associated function key marked with a colour.

-Press the appropriate key for the function for which you wish to change the volume.
The coloured marking of the function key and the associated bar indicate the selection.
-Turn the central rotary/push knob to regulate the volume for the selected function.

Turn the knob anti-clockwise to lower the volume and clockwise to increase it.

  Note
As an alternative to pressing a function key, you can jump from the current function to the next one in the menu by pressing the central rotary/push knob. The bar will move down one position every time the central rotary/push knob is pressed. The marking of the function key changes accordingly. If the bottom bar (announcement volume) is selected, pressing the central rotary/push knob returns to the top bar (GALA).
